Happy International Women’s Day to you all, ladies! I know this is a cliché, but I’ve always wanted to do a pastiche of J. Howard Miller’s poster, so I guess this is as good of an opportunity as any. Hope you have a good one!
And in English: We have some space opening up from our Kaiku collective studio around July. The Press Photos of the Year were awarded in ten categories yesterday in Helsinki. There are some stunning images, so please go check them out! Congratulations to all the winners, including my darling wife Marjaana. View her multimedia documentary online at photoraw.org.
Seeing all this great footage from near and far is both moving, inspiring and simply mind-blowing. Photojournalists, you are my heroes, the whole bunch of you. Your work is meaningful and rich in itself, and I detest the fact that Sodoma Media Finland and the likes are trying to squeeze every penny and turn journalism into a capitalist moneymaking tool. But more about this on Kari Kuukka’s blog…
Once more, congratulations to all of you. The fight continues!
